Change to fix the problems

Updated: Nov 5

The underlying issues behind the problems our food systems and its related water are experiencing can be summarised very crudely: we humans have messed up natural ecosystem functions and are now paying the price. While this is of course an over-simplification of complex issues, it holds true.

Luckily, there are things we can do to start fixing these issues. The difficulty lies in the fact that these fixes require changes – sometimes quite significant ones in the ways we think and act. We have created a system that often leads to bad outcomes, but there are a lot of structures in place and vested interests holding us put, even if we see the need for change. Courage and determination are often more than necessary.
